Mark DiClaudio, performer, teacher, inventor, and founder of The Buzz Clip, received his inspiration while addressing technical aspects of his students' playing. After noting patterns in his students' deficiencies, he developed new exercises and practice techniques to develop the breathing and buzzing basics that are the building blocks of clear and efficient production. The epiphany occurred while developing consistent solutions to efficient buzz application through the trumpet.

At first, Mark held the mouthpiece in the trumpet without allowing it to seat entirely. Next, He used different household items such as paperclips, toothpicks and aluminum chimney flashing to create a similar effect. These early inspirations and successes extended as far as building various homemade devices with aluminum and even metal flashing from the hardware store. These rudimentary devices continued to prove successful time and time again in correcting his students' deficiencies. Mark's students showed improvement in more efficient sound production and increased range.

Eventually, these innovations and ideas developed more fully into The Buzz Clip. He knew he had developed a wonderful tool for creating and solidifying an efficient, relaxed buzz and airflow aide. Eventually the exact specifications for trumpet were drawn up to be created from a more flexible and durable material, the patent was applied for, and The Buzz Clip was born. The Buzz Clip is the final result of years of development and proven success rates. Mark has created the first-ever patent-pending embouchure training device that develops the buzz into and through the instrument!
